    It’s just because he’s black, right??

    • No, it’s because he’s awesome and sharing what makes exploration so awesome. Six year olds make a lot of messes, but that’sa essential to figuring out how the world works. Part of that is learning how to apologize and how to help mommy clean muddy footprints out of the carpet, but that’s okay. And as parents, we have to be prepared for that. To know more than just the importance of teaching your kid that there is a time, a place, and even devices specifically for noisemaking — we have to also know *why* our kids do things that drive us nuts. They do it to learn, to explore. You have to temper your corrections, so they learn manners without stifling their sense of exploration.
