First commercial all-electric satellites delivered to orbit!

Falcon 9 delivered two commsats destined for geosynchronous orbit into a supersynchronous transfer orbit.  What makes them different (and light enough for Falcon 9 to deliver in a pair like this) is that instead of conventional chemical propulsion, they are equipped exclusively with xenon electric thrusters — ion drives.  Due to the payload size and high energy requirements of this mission, the Falcon 9 was not equipped with landing legs, and a full propulsive return was not attempted due to insufficient propellant margin.  It was still pretty cool.  😉
