Soyuz TMA-18M blasted off carrying veteran Soyuz commander Sergey Volkov (son of cosmonaut Aleksandr Volkov), making his third flight to the ISS, Danish rookie Andreas Mogensen, and Kazakh rookie Aidyn Aimbetov. Mogensen is the first Dane ever to fly into space, and is, appropriately enough, bringing LEGO bricks along with him. Aidyn Aimbetov is a Kazakh citizen, flying for Kazakhstan rather than Roscosmos. He follows Toktar Aubakirov and Talgat Musabayev as only the third ethnic Kazakh to fly into space, even though all Russian crewed launches originate in Kazakhstan (and, under normal circumstances, return there as well).
Congratulations on a successful launch, and have a great mission, guys!
