Space Oddity

I’m sitting here a bit shocked to hear that David Bowie has passed.  I hadn’t even realized he was sick, but apparently he’s been battling cancer for a year and a half.  The man managed to influence a lot of genres and a lot of other artists while creating truly original art that holds up well over time, a man who never let the public’s opinion determine what he’d create but who was nevertheless adept at crafting images that would guide the public’s eye in the direction he wanted — which, when you get down to it, is one of the most essential components of art in general.

And then I need to go find my DVD of Labyrinth.
